I Spy Jar
Today Siena and I created a quick and easy activity for Sage... one which, I must add, kept all three kids will occupied for a better part of the day, on and off! This I Spy Jar is completely stolen from a new blog that I thoroughly enjoy, and if you'd like to see more detailed photos in how to make one, I recommend hitting the link and visiting (and heck, go visit just to be inspired by the magical life that is occurring there).
The process was simple: Siena and I collected bits of treasures from around the house. These included beads and pennies, a pewter heart, a seashell, a rock and countless lego bits, like a wheel and a snake. We grabbed one of our many ball jars and filled it with inexpensive rice, so we'd know how much to use, leaving a good 1 inch of air space at the top (for pouring and moving the rice once completed). We then mixed the two together, and poured them back into the jar. I screwed the lid on tightly, and away they went!
Some items are easily found, but others hide well in the center of the jar, making it a trick to pour and twist the rice just right to reveal them. I suspect I'll be pulling out a few treasures and adding new ones now and again, but so far, it's kept everyone who picks it up entertained and focused - the perfect thing!

I LOVE your treasures... so, have you guys been able to find the coin???? I told K, 'just shows how hard you have to work for your money!' Fun activity, isn't it.
Love this!! We will do this next time we have to drive down to SoCal.
