Crafty Mum :: Juggling Summer Yarn

Juggling Summer Yarn, originally uploaded by islandj.

One of the reasons I always enjoyed living in BC was the weather - so much of the year (cold, drizzly, downright wet) was perfect for sitting by a fire and knitting. Whenever we've dreamed of living in Hawaii, there is often this little nagging thought in my mind...but could I craft there? What does one knit in constantly beautiful and hot weather? (and no, my love of the fibers does not stretch to knitting or crocheting bikinis).

And now I've found my summer project here - lovely, vibrant, summery cotton yarns, all balled up so enticingly, and a pattern for juggling balls. Simple, sweet, and totally addicting. I made a few for fun, trying out different sizes and colors, and we can't keep our hands off of them! Filled with pinto beans, they just squish and move and make a swishy noise... we are loving them. Birthday kids, be warned, I'm on a roll!

I love these. What a great gift idea!! Are they hard to make? Could you teach me? I have been reading knit lit (you like that?) and I am desperate to start knitting again. I need some good projects besides scarfs. I really want to learn how to do a cable- I need you J!!

I am glad you posted again- I have missed you (which means you have been too busy!!) Hugs-M.

Oh, I MUST learn to knit! These are just too adorable and look like so much fun. Maybe one of these days things will slow down enough for me to have an hour or two to actually sit down with my Knitting for Kids book... I need the instruction SIMPLIFIED, and this book actually looks promising!
